Teacher Zhang Xianglong
In 2019, the Commercial Press organized a series of visiting columns in conjunction with this report, aiming to reveal and show the hardships and searches of Hang world-wide academic masterpieces in the translation process, as well as some less well-known stories behind it. This became the origin of my visit to Teacher Zhang Xianglong. Although I had seen Teacher Zhang several times in the Peking University campus traveling through the “Laozi Research Middle” between the Three Churches and nearby, Teacher Zhang was already tall and had a long chest. The former gave me a major understanding of the theme of this interview, while the latter gave me a sense of closeness to Teacher Zhang from the text. Teacher Zhang obviously made sufficient preparations for this interview. When I sat down, he took out several pages of papers full of densely packed text. During the interview, he would occasionally take a look at the manuscript in his hand and then continue his thoughts and talk further. In comparison, because Teacher Zhang passed away, I asked Chen Jianhong, Professor of the Zhongshan Department of Philosophy (Zhuhai) to write an article. Teacher Chen was a student of the Institute of Philosophy in the early years.
